Course Description:

 

This course will provide you with an introduction to the principles of cathodic protection for underground and underwater structures.  You will be introduced to the physics and chemistry of the corrosion process and how to mitigate the corrosion using cathodic protection techniques.

 

Learning Objectives:

 

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Learn the factors to consider in constructing cathodic protection systems
  • Learn the importance of pipeline coatings
  • Learn about special considerations where pipeline casings are necessary
  • Find out about factors to consider when foreign pipeline crossings are encountered
  • Learn the proper techniques for installing electrical isolating flanges
  • Learn about impressed current anode installations
